PRIMA (Partnership on Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area) is a collaboration between eight partners from five different countries (Spain, France, Jordan, Egypt, and Turkey), including Rovensa’s biocontrol R&D area, Aimplas – a technological centre with 30 years of experience in the plastics industry.
One of the key components of the project is the development of a new control release system based on tailor-made biodegradable polymers.
This system will be used to coat and encapsulate natural pesticides from botanical innovative formulations, such as asteraceae, urticaceae, fabaceae plant extract, and is suitable for tomato, pepper, and lettuce cultivation.
The capsules release the natural pests gradually, increasing the efficiency of the treatment and protecting them from light and temperature.
The project also aims to reduce water, energy, nutrients, and pesticides and promote the use of wastewater in irrigation and soilless developing different and innovative technologies. This initiative was funded from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement No 1914.
Let’s grow together.
